o2 or Sky?

[link to this post]

Currently have sky tv and a o2 contract phone. The BB line does 1.5meg and thats the max. Also I have my website/space and email. So out of sky and o2 who would be better to get and why?

Go to the web sites of both ISP's and compare their terms and conditions very carefully. Also try visiting the relevant forums on this web site. I'm a happy Sky user but have no personal experience with o2.

I doubt if The BB line does 1.5meg and thats the max is actually true, and you have got it from some estimator or other. Nearly all are wildly inaccurate. And if you were told it by an ISP it could even be plain untrue.

If you post your line stats we can tell you quite accurately what your line is capable of based on what it is doing now. If you don't know how to get them, look here or here.

Edit:- And if it really can only do 1.5Mbps then I don't think either of them will want you except Sky on Sky Connect, which is reputed to be pretty poor.

If you put your line stats here (snr, attenuation, etc) we can give you a guide of what speeds you could get on an LLU connection.

It is quite possible that you could almost double your present speed.

I can't comment on 02 as I am with Sky.

Sky was a no brainer for me as I already had Sky TV plus the price of Sky broadband (eiether

Sky will still put people with slow IPStream current speeds on their LLU network if they can - and not on Sky Connect. It is cheaper for Sky to do that.

Are you the original poster or someone else jumping in, as it's impossible to tell from this post.

If you are the original poster then that upstream negative power is impossible so probably means your router is mis-reporting it - otherwise you are supplying power to BT .

We really need to know what speed you are sync'ed at. The implication from what you have given implies 7616kbps. Which is a bit more than 1.5Mbps!!

No problem, but either register, it doesn't hurt , or when you jump in, make it clear you have done so. I had just asked for the OP's stats, and you replied with yours. Think of the chaos that could cause .

And whenever you have a question similar to someone elses, whether you are registered or anonymous, it is alway better for everyone including you if you start a new thread.

Anyway - you got an answer about your stats . Am I right you sync at 7616?
