Alternative To Toucansurf

[link to this post]

My sis is currently paying 30 a month (she feels this is high, I agree). She`s looking for an ISP that can give her the one package (broadband, phone and line rental)/one payment. Currently only on 2 meg, she says she`s not bothered about speed and she downloads infrequently, so perhaps something along the lines of about 5Gb allowance and either fixed/MaxDSL, she ain't that fussed

Sky and CPW are ruled out, I took a peak at Orange, seems OK (apart from the contract length then again, she ain`t bothered about that neither).

It`s been over 2 years since I looked for an ISP so I`m out of touch what`s on offer

Any help appreciated

Does she really need a bundle these days?

BT phone only service Option 1 is now 10.50pm by d/d and paperless billing and includes free weekend calls. Or Option 2 another 2.70pm adds evenings as well. Or look at the Post Office phone deal - looks good to me and it still counts as a BT line so far as I know for ISP purposes. (Don't go for Post Office Broadband - I've just been looking at the forum and it doesn't look good).

Then a decent ISP as all the bundles seem to have drawbacks.
Particularly Newnet for your sis. Home Lite has a 3GB allowance at 12.95 per month, and extra can be bought as required at 1.40 per GB. So in a particularly light month nothing extra to pay. You also get frequent emails after 75% usage, and there's a pretty good online monitor.

A sample comparison.

10.50 + 12.95 + (say) 1.40 (on average) = 24.85pm.

Bob - Newnet Lite, ex Prodigynet. Purple Cloud for domain reg and email and web space.
