Premium ISP recomendations pleases

[link to this post]

HI I am currenlty an ENTA.net user but find after 8pm (when i use the net the most) the speed are getting real slow. What I want is an ISP that dosent trafic shape were I can use my 8 meg connection to the full.

my usage is normally 30-45 gig a month.

What i want is an 8 meg connection (no llu here) that is always an 8 meg connection and not a 2 meg connection after 8pm.

ALso game pings must be good

Thank you

Then you're probably looking at Zen at 35 for 50GB or IDNet Home Supermax with 30GB 9am-midnight and the other 30GB outwith those times, again at 35.
You're not going to get those sort of volumes any cheaper if consistent speeds are what you're after. No ISP is going to guarantee constant 8Mb, not for consumer type prices at any rate.

Regards,
Steve

I think apart from the two sjr has recommended your only other possibility is Newnet. Three possible options:-

Business B. A bit pricier , but if you signed up on a one-month contract you could change to annual if happy.

Home SO if you can schedule some of it into the 2-7am slot. If you find occasionally you need more than 20GB in 7-2am then the page shows you the units you can buy extra. Still costs out OK compared to the other two ISPs.

Home S not really in the running over 30GB unless that is rare, but cheap. Especially if you occasionally stay under 20GB such as when away from home.

No idea about game pings as it seems highly dependent on where in the country you are, and I'm on interleaved as well. Re speeds then evenings and weekends are actually faster than daytime for me. (Reason is they are primarily a business ISP so when they all go home things improve).

I sync just over 7000 so have an IP Profile of 6000, I presume you have 7150. Daytime speed test results nearly always over 4000, evenings and weekends normally around 5000. Around midnight about 5300. Taking overheads out of 6000 that's pretty good IMO. BBMax test which seems to include overheads shows 5700-5800 at the high speed times.

IDNET have a no contention policy once you are on their network but cannot guarantee from your phone to the exchange. They have no controls on your connection and it runs as fast as your connection is capable of. There are no slowdowns or restrictions.

Well worth checking them out, they are a highly regarded isp with a very ethical slant to business.

Hi,

I don't know if your Exchange has been activated but if so then Be Unlimited might suit you. Download speed is up to 24Mb with uplink at 1.1 Mb. I get between 15 and 20Mb download with 1.0Mb uplink and pings of between 21 and 23 at all times.

All this with no download limits or caps, a static IP address and good reliability for 18.00 a month. Plus a free wireless router on permanent loan. Best thing I did was changing to them in May 2007.

John.

Or you could sign up with IDNET by yourself.
