Eclipse internet and why never to use them

[link to this post]

If you enjoy the internet and being able to do what you like with your connection do NOT ever join eclipse internet as they are restricting services to the point where no connection can be made. i have recorded a conversation with Mr Mike White which he has agreed to let me record and distribute where he admits that eclipse reduce the speed of p2p that it causes tracker errors and the effect is BLOCKING connections!

if you think they will stop at p2p to save a few pennies think again.

here is a video showing how eclipse internet filter block the net as soon as a p2p application is detected, this is bypassed by either using a vpn or an encrypted tunnel and you can see that as soon as the encryption is in use my internet again works.

here are some screen shots of my daily experience with eclipse:

eclipse t+c "we manage the traffic on these products so that intensive activities such as such as file downloads, peer-to-peer (P2P) and Usenet traffic do not swamp the network and slow down time-sensitive traffic, such as web browsing, email, gaming and Internet phone calls"

though i admit, it looks harsh, i take it the 00's of gigs you've downloaded have been via vpn etc.? does the shaping not affect your upload speed?

if effects uploading and downloading but a vpn and encrypted tunnel bypasses their filters, the real pain in the backside is whenever eclipse detects p2p it shuts down your browsing ability, msm messenger, voip communications, well ANY connection to the net other than the slow p2p allowance they give you.

i am ok with the fact that they employ traffic management but when they only allow you 5kbps download speeds and then remove the ability to browse the web it really sucks. 5kbps is not traffic management its practically stopping the connection!

but then you have Mr White from eclipse stating they reduce speeds to a point where it causes tracker errors which is 0, but they don't block connections, this company is one huge lie and needs to be exposed for the anti consumer tactics it employees miss selling their product.

Did you see in the video how the p2p through the proxy connection (8 mins into video) speed suddenly shot up and i was able to browse happily even though my downloads were 2 to 3x the speed than without the encryption running?

i know i will upload it to rapid share and supply a link but you can see the net timing out, with the p2p running then i start tor and direct uTorrent to use the proxy and a miricle happens, i can again browse the web while using a p2p app like you can most isp's except for eclipse and tiscali. the other thing that happens with eclipse internet filters is that you are made "none connectible" since december my contacts on ALLpeers, (a firefox p2p plugin) have not been able to connect to me even though we are all online and happily chatting via msn messenger. "we do not block connections" sasy eclipse internet!

these have to be the two worst ISP's in the UK now, wtf happened eclipse do you NOT care about a reasonable level of service any more, and you used to be one of the best? so long and thankx for the mac code!

Rapidshare link for video: http://rapidshare.com/files/96793588/Eclipse_Traffic_Shaping.wmv.html

scroll to the bottom of the page and select FREE then w8 for a min or two for the download to begin!

which product are you on ? Eclipse seem to use traffic shaping levels to differentiate them.

I bet they don't. With karoo their is no difference in the traffic shaping between options 1 - 4 even though they advertise that their is. I bet they use the same traffic management rules for the eclipse side.
