Moving from UKFSN (enta) - where to?

[link to this post]

I'm thinking of moving from UKFSN (enta) to another ISP for a better service. This is my exchange:

http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange/THFJ

Required:
No protocol or encryption throttling
No "fair usage" traffic throttling
Minimal traffic shaping
No deep packet inspection (eg: Phorm, or protocol screening)
No threatening letters
Decent allowance of at least 30 GB during 'peak hours'
£17-£25 per month range

Bonus, not necessary:
Static IP
Flexible contract (rather not be tied in for 18 months)

I've been looking at be Be/O2. Any thoughts or recommendations?

Frankly, I'd stay with ukfsn because of WBC. Entanets adsl2+ line would be just as good as O2/Be and on a 1 month contract still.

Be or O2.

No threatening letters

If you infringe copyright expect threatening letters (UK ISPs should all act the same).

Except they tend to send letters unwarranted and at the behest of immoral institutions like the BPI, RIAA, and MPAA. In addition to being an invasion of private communications.

With a BT profiling system that goes in 1Mbps steps? Yeah - great!

I think you are mixing things up there.

Phorm is nothing to do with copyright warnings. The latter are from the rights holder or its agent detecting uploads from an IP then requesting the ISP to warn the apparent user. No invasion there.

Nothing wrong with that in law, ethics or morality I'm afraid.

I didn't mention phorm with regard to the letters. I'm avoiding Phorm because its an invasive advertising platform.

I think if you read what you wrote here, rather than what you think you wrote smile, you will see that to anyone else reading you were grouping the two things together.

Anyway, Be/O2 are the most suitable ISPs for you. Your choice whether to go with them or not smile.

Line stats would help as well though!
