Im on merthyr tydfil exchange, looking for 8mb speed, 80GB+ pm or TRUE unlimited - not the ones with dodgey fair usage policy. My line is in contract with BT. Currently with sky broadband, had murders with them, as they signed me up to a new and different contract! Got it sorted now, and have my migration code in my hand. Am struggling finding a good package, been looking for ages now.
Did write a massive thing explaing this all in detail, doesnt seem to have posted tho, so this is a small post.
Anyone help me? All comments welcome.

You don't have Be/O2 LLU but do have Sky LLU. You won't be pleased to know but you are probably best off staying with Sky, if you are on Sky LLU.

Do you use you connection during office hours?

sky have put me on the connect package, but my exchange has llu so they can put me back on the unlimited then yeah? that unlimited? I need to speak to sky again I think.. they gave me so much greif.. they told me I could only have the connect.. which is a terrible package.
There is also ukonline who use the same llu network as sky.

I need access 24/7 really, my usage varies from day to day. So all hours really.

What's the maximum you're prepared to pay per month?

Do sky have a fair usage on the unlimited package? I will give them a call and see if I can have the LLU £10pm package as long as its not subject to fair use, which throttles.. the problem I have with the speeds and stuff with sky at the moment, is prob due to them changing my contract without telling me, which capped me to 40Gb and prob induced throttling throughout the day? What u think?

Cost is not really an issue, I wouldnt want to go over £30pm ideally. But I do want quality, unrestricted and consistant speed/connection. At the moment sky logs me off steam/msn randomly due to like 0.2mb connection at times.

UKonline throttle or cap or fair usage?

Given that Sky LLU is generally well regarded you might find that all the connections are already in use at your exchange (there is only room for a limited amount of kit per LLU operator). If there are no spare connections then the only choice available to you is the non-LLU connect product which is generally not recommended.
If you want a decent non-LLU ISP you need to look at the products from the likes of NewNet, Zen, and IDNet.

TalkTalk is the only LLU provider at Ynysowen and I don't think that they'll be of any use to you. But, search these forums for "Opal business".

Non LLU services are expensive for ISP's to provide to heavy users. Therefore, they tend to be capped or throttled or both.
They do 40Gb cap with top up of 40Gb, that might be ok.. need to read into it a bit more.. the non-LLU isps are going to be ore pricey arent they?

Hang on tho.. I had AOL platinum down at this address before.. and im sure that was LLU based, as it was true unlimited and 8mb.. gonna ring BT to clear this up.

UKonline throttle or cap or fair usage? 100gig afaik.
Yeah, they are a bit expensive..
I am waiting to speak to an advisor from BT.. to make sure which exchange Im on.. as the merthyr tydfil one gives me more LLU options. Until I get this information the search is on hold.
My postcode is CF48 4NG, Ive put it into an online checker and its come back as Ynysowen. Are these checkers 100% accurate?

UKO are not an option at Ynysowen though they might be at Merthyr. However, if you are connected via Merthyr but Sky don't have capacity there, it's doubtful that UKO has.
Of course, there's always the free Wi-Fi on Stagecoach's X4 Hereford<>Cardiff service.

Problem solved
Im on the Merthyr Tydfil exchange. I rang AOL to cancel, and they have sorted me out the following:-
8Mb download speed, unlimited (no throttleing of any kind), free calls anytime national, 12 month contract - £6.99pm! Great deal imo
Problem is I have ordered talk talk in between lol, will ring them tomorrow to cancel. Nightmare, but at least at the end of it I will have a cracking deal.
Wont have to pay the £65 early cancelation fee with BT either.
Thanks for all the help guys.

Great deal yes. If only it was true! I'd bet my bottom dollar that you've been lied to.

yeah, aol will tie you into thel long contract then your service will go to hell and when you complain they'll say it's a contended service and you aren't guaranteed to get line speed etc etc. imo you should avoid them

Well, i had them for years (got two addresses, had them on other address - no longer needed, so change deal over then transfer to new address). I started off on the £30pm top platinum unlimited 8Mb deal, then got it reduced to £18pm after two years because I went to leave. Its been at least 2-3 years since that, and they have offered it for £6.99pm now with phone thing. I have always had full speed and smash the downloads, so there defo is no limit. Never throttled or nothing. So, as long as it does what it always has, I will take the cheaper price and the phones lovely
You do have me worried now tho!

You should be worried. The AOL cupboard is rather bare as most of their customers seem to have left but the horror stories listed there should give you fair warning.
