Help me find an ISP, no LLU or Cable

I have no LLU stuff at my exchange I am stuck with plain vanilla BT wholesale packages, but the exchange is ADSL2+ enabled.

I am currently with IDNet, and find the 30GB a little suffocating. 50GB would be comfortable.
I have completely sailed past my bandwidth cap this month and been notified of a potential £85 charge if I continue. I need broadband without worries.

What I would like is cap of 50GB or higher, 1 month contract, no traffic shaping, for £30 or less.

Options I have researched:

PlusNet: Ruled out due to traffic shaping worries. Maybe it would not be so bad, But because it's a long term contract I don't get the oppurtunity to just try it out and see.
BT: Ruled out option 3 because of long term contract
02 Access: Ruled out because of the bad reports regarding congestion and stability.

NewNet, Zen, etc .. Same category as IDNet, slightly more expensive broadband, air tight cap, and murder if you exceed. Seems like there is nothing out there to be honest, broadband has got expensive and restrictive.

Entanet, aaisp?

Yes I considered ADSL24. They have a 30GB cap, but it is unmetered at weekends which could make a difference.

The problem with that is, Entanet seem to have a bad reputation for performance recently. Not sure if I want to buy into that for the marginal benefit of free weekends.

And aaisp, I find their configurations confusing and the bandwidth allowances seem low. It would be a lot of hassle getting that sorted out I think.

As far as Entanet concerned, it depends on which node you end up on to a certain extent. You say you have adsl2+ (by which I assume you mean 21cn) so you'd have to figure out which of the 20 nodes you'd be on. It's also worth mentioning that it's unlimited every night too, which you omited.

AAisp is the best ISP there is imo, but only if you don't need to use the connection heavily during the day (9-6).

Really, there's no perfect option for you, it's a case of picking the lesser of evils.

We have been with TalkTalk for over a year and they became so bad - almost daily outages (often more than once daily), and connection speeds at a crawl, especially evenings.
We had to get our line back from them too, so once it was back with BT, though we seriously considered O2 as good value for money, we went with Cerberus Networks.
They offer an ADSL service with up to 24 Mbps download, up to 1.3 Mbps upload, uncapped, and no restrictive contention on the lines, so maximum bandwidth always available, though I know we won't get anywhere NEAR those speeds via our old copper line.
Still, it's considerably faster than it was and no disconnections.
We opted for a 12 month contract, which, if done in August, provides 2 of the first 3 months free.
Or, you can opt for a 3 month deal with one month free.
It's normally £24.00 per month (about double the cost of an O2 account for non O2 customers), but with a 1 year contract that works out to £20.00 per month.
Furthermore, no call centres, just direct support via phone or e-mail.
I suggest you check them out.
And no - I do NOT work for them.

Ignore the above. Cerberus is just resold BE. It's more expensive too. It's also LLU which is obviously no good for the OP. I wouldn't be surprised if the post is spam.

I assure you - my post was NOT spam. It was my first posting on this forum. Then I immediately saw that I had to separately register for the forum so I'd not be anonymous.

Yes - I've discovered it IS resold BE, but after our awful experiences with Talk, we're quite happy with it.

So, explain to me why you feel Cerberus isn't applicable to your situation and what I might have chosen that is better.

Cerberus is LLU? I know Talktalk was - we had to migrate our line back to BT before we could subscribe to O2 or Cerberus.
And what is OP?
Also, you made some reference to an O2 service yet you reject O2 for your needs. Why?

The reason I opted to go with Cerberus, despite their being a resold service is no call centres and little likelihood (I thought) of overburdened circuits and traffic coming to a crawl during busy periods. So do BE and O2 also offer no contention?

You moved from Talktalk LLU to BT Ipstream then on to Be/O2 LLU via cerberus. There are multiple companies that each have their own LLU equipment. You can check here to find out which ones you have available to you.

The OP(opening post) mentioned O2, but only meant their 'access' product. That is available to everyone, even those without Be/O2 LLU, but it's just standard 'upto 8meg' broadband and not really very good broadband either.

That's a valid reason I suppose. For me though I'd be more concerned with the level of technical knowledge the phone support has and the speed in which they could resolve problem. I'm sure Ceberus know what they're doing, but the extra layer of red tape they'd need to go through to fix a problem would be a negative imo.
