Hi there

I have been looking to get a new isp with faster upload /download but also fair pings

I am currently with adsl24 which have good pings but getting bad packet loss and poor upload speeds at different times of the day this maybe just down to my exchange trying to share out the bandwidth with other people as my profile seems to change ever month. I don't think my line is bad I stay fairly close to the exchange about 1.33km away according to (samknows)

sky broadband was my first choice because it's a Local loop unbundling at my exchange

I have had a chat with a few friends that play online gaming saying that the pings are very high and even with the interleave tweaked there no big change

could some of you kind people post up about how the pings are and if there stable as I would like to see how others find there network ...

Not much LLU to choose from there . I wonder if UKOnline may be better for you, though more expensive. I'm just guessing they could be better than Sky for gaming in the same way as Be are better than O2.

Other than that I can't help sorry. No doubt there will be several using both of those will be along tomorrow.

How much do you download and how important is higher speed really compared to good pings??

I download about 30gb ish a month,
I would much like to have stable pings, my exchange I think keeps messing me about puting me on different profiles etc droping my speeds upload wise and sometimes download not by much that you could make a complaint about but it's mostly the packetloss issues that really is annoying me

best time my connection is really good is first thing in that morring

come about lunch time till about 11pm at night is when I start to see packet loss

I will be happy when uk network all become fiber optic that way I dont mind paying 50p

Have a look at vivaciti Surfwise 75 and AAISP. Quite a few Enta reseller customers have gone to those.

UKonline are good for stable ping's as they offer a fastpath profile on Easynets LLU equipment and prioritised bandwidth ( not that there is a need for prioritised traffic ), that Sky don't offer .

I have been with UKonline coming up to 18 months and have never knowingly suffered congestion and always have stable ping's .

There not cheap though ( when compared to other LLU providers ) and still have there ridiculous mandatory router purchase .

If you can see past the price you will be connecting to a network with ridiculous amounts of redundant capacity .

In my opinion , the only better option for online gaming is Be* , with there increased upload of 1.3mb and support for annex-m and there online control panel for setting your lines own profile .
But UKonline are still a good option that you wont be disappointed with the quality of your connection ..

yeah I did have a look at the easynet /ukonline

the thing I was put off by was the 12mouths contract

but any ways I phoned them up today and they told me that they is a charge for a router whats so special about them ....

I don't agree with the mandatory router purchase .

And if your looking for a better connection on LLU there is no way round the 12 month contract and router purchase , and was also the reason why i left it so long before migrating to UKonline .
But now im here i do wonder why i left it so long to migrate , Oh yeah the 12 month contract ..

They really are that special after my adventures with Entanet ( which at the time i thought where good , after being with Pipex )

Well I have order a request for my mac-code today and will consider ukonline, yes I agree the price is a bit steep £70 nicker if you go for the £19.99 package

when I asked the sales team about prioritizing bandwidth they told me no

but really I just wanna brake away from bt profiles and still keep very good pings
