XILO Alternative as moving???

[link to this post]

Hi,

I currently am very happy with XILO but unfortunaltely no LLU on my new exchange. I can buy a Home package but for the amount of monthy usage it will cost me more than my budget =(

Any other simular providers with Monthly (or under 6mth) contracts with good stability and no traffic shaping???

Cheers, Steve

It all depends what you're willing to pay.

If you have no LLU, going for the cheaper options will generally mean hefty traffic shaping/throttles.

Sorry to see you go but ensure you get that SIM reference from BT when you order the new line so that you can get that and the broadband on at the same time smile

I don't want to leave so have been considering Home options.

You say about traffic shaping on cheaper packages...do you mean on YOUR home packages?? or other suppliers??

Cheers

No no, sorry for the confusion. smile

None of our packages have any form of traffic management/shaping.

Tell us the exchange and budget, and expected download volumes, and we have something to try to satisfy.

At the moment you are asking for a a suitable ball of string, without giving us any clue as to what it is for.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk
My domains, website and mail hosting - Tsohost. Internet connection - O2 Standard.

Remember that Xilo have a FUP of 200GB off peak on the Home and Office packages.

Off peak on home is midnight to 8am Monday to Friday and all weekend, and on Office it's 8pm to 8am Monday to Friday and all weekend.

This might help make the budget stretch if you scheduled any downloads for off-peak times.

Yes - in light of this being said:

1) What amount of data do you transfer per month (roughly)
2) Of this, how much is time critical? Could much/all of this data transfer be shifted to overnight periods?
3) How much do you use during office hours? If everyone in the household is working 9-5, mon-fri, there are some business oriented ISPs (eg AAISP) which are expensive during the weekday daytimes, but very generous with usage outside of those hours.
