Anyone with coms.com

[link to this post]

http://www.coms.com/

Im with ADSL24 at the moment but in the New Year we're all getting moved into the coms.com network. So anyone know much about them or how good they're? Never heard of them until they bought out adsl24

All I know is what it says on their website
Coms.Com Ltd. is part of the Coms Plc group, which was founded in 2000 with the vision of using the Internet to carry and deliver voice telephone calls.

Yea not much info on their broadband services. Did they even offer broadband before taking over adsl24?

On their broadband page they lists their packages you can order and the phone number is the old adsl24 sales support line.

No idea what things will be like after integration, but hopefully things will improve rather than get worse. Broadband outage for me of 10 hours today.

On their broadband page they flout ASA rules by advertising ADSL as "Up to 24 Meg" & Fibre as "Up to 40/80 Meg".

1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up => 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB => 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB => 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU => 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU => 2011: Orange 20 Meg WBC

I've been with ADSL24 almost since they started out and have no probs at all with the service.
I've just been informed of the coms takeover (merger or whatever) and find it a bit worrying as I've never heard of them.
Apparently the move over is early 2014, I'll give it a try and move on if I find it no good.

I have been with ADSL24 since March, I got the E-mails and letter about the Coms intergration/takeover and decide to migrate, and thats when things started to go wrong. It seems they are having a few issues tho it looks as tho nobody told their tech support.

I requested my MAC code on the 3rd Dec and got it the next day. I decided to migrate to Xilo rafter a a bit of research, went through the sign up thinking all went well only to be told the code had already been used.

To cut a long story short i have been going back and forth with ADSL24 fro a few days only to be given the same mac code again with a different expiry date! which still does not work, and now they have closed the ticket.

Seems that maybe the takeover is causing issues but someone forgot to tell the tech support people.

You're not the first.

We've got about 6 pending orders in the same situation. The MACs appear to have been generated last month but then provided when the customers despite them already being used.

Anyone having any problems?

I have 2 accounts [for two places].

One went almost OK although ADSL24 SMTP was not working and speed was 1/2 as it was!

Then it was quickly fixed.

Other line:

1. SMTP not working - started to work after 7 days of emails
2. after 5/6 days line started to crackles and it has taken 7 days to get a BT engineer out and still not fixed - possibly by the end of today.
3. they ONLY replied to 1 or 2 emails and after Phoning them some one did with bad 'English' and unfinished email!
4. could not login website

SAGA still on - their twitter account was not used for 5 days.

Maybe they had technical, problem themselves? why not INFORM customers?
They never really informed us properly.

No contract, nothing.

Lets see how it goes, although I had to practically stop working for a week, as I could not TRUST the line!
Should I send an invoice of £. 500?

mmm!

Hi Thinkit,

Drop DanComs or myself the details in a PM and I'll get the team to look into this for you.
Our contact centre is based in south west London not offshore, apologies if you felt the service and language was an issue. We'll look into the call if you can give us an idea when the call was made.

Line crackle will be down to the physical technology which is why a BT engineer will be required.

Thanks,
Paul

Hi

Well, the BT Wholesale was ever called - nobody fixed anything!

Last nigh someone called at around 19:10H at home and nobody was there, left a message did not leave a phone number to call.

This remeinds me of Orange Broadband! [see orangeproblems.com]

They do have ONE phone number only to call and ONE fax number.

They tell you to email to certain email addresses and they do not reply.

They tell us they would call back on mobile a few minutes later and then we had to call after 15 minutes [nobody called] and that perso wwent home!

We were and are clearly ignored on purpose.

Coms.com hides behind their website, they even use Images in place of their text to avoid been poicked up by S. Engines and copying of 'clear printout!

They are clearly hiding - why?

This part of the behaviour of not replying emails and ONLY using ONE telephone number is what XLN do.

Check them too and see how they work.

It is time for a change of Laws and responsibility of these Companies.

WHO REALLY OWNS COMS PLC / COMS.com - now listed at the Stock Exchange?

Not really, Paul and Dan are here, not hiding or ignoring but helping.

Well, if it is a PLC...... unless you mean who manages the business?

There is a whole thread in the resellers section on the throttling and yes, a fair few of us can confirm it from our ends.

Yeah I know what you mean, ADSL24 were great. Xilo seem to be a popular choice for ADSL24 refugees. Can't comment personally but at the moment I'm going to either go with them or Vivaciti for my LLU connection.

Thumbs up here for Xilo. No port blocking for me, via TTB LLU
