Resonably priced internet

I would appreciate your help if any one could recommend a provider for use during the day time. I will probably be using the net about four or five hours a day four to five days a week during 10 to 4 pm. I would like to pay no more than

Thank you very much excellent advice. I have a usb modem, so that is not an isuue. I do like ukonline, but I also read that sky might be taking them over and that you will have to take thier phone package in the future? is that true?

Sky own them already, as to what they will do in the future, its all guesswork. It is pretty much the case that any ISP could be bought out in the future.

If you sign up now then they should not be able to force a full phone type package on you, and its unclear if Sky are going to go that route anyway

Hi there again Anon

Well assuming that Easynet/UK Online have equipment in your exchange and the fact that you have an ADSL modem your costs would fall to

The OP might be better off stating any usage patterns, ammounts etc
Then people might get a clearer picture of which ISP to recommend

Hi there penkoprod

The Anon you replied to was in fact the Anon who started this thread

It seemed pretty clear to me what sort of ISPs to look for based on the statements of Anon, which I have outlined below with my comments

The statement below gives and indication of usage levels but needs further qualification which was given in quote 4.

Hi penkprod,

Thank you for your comments, what i meant with the hours would not be continuos, inbetween treating patients...perhaps an hour or so listening to the radio. In reality depends how busy work is as I work from home/surgery. So uk online is good bet? Eclispse seems quit good too especially for 8mg, but then again speed not overly important.

So, i take it from your comments that its mainly off-peak times you would be using this?
If so then either of those would suit
If price is a factor then i think the Eclipse package of MaxDSL looks favourable, but, saying that, if speed ISN'T a factor, then perhaps the 2 meg offering at UK Online would suit better
................HOWEVER you may want to look at these as an alternative:

(just keep to the "justsurf " option though............... the "free broadband" is unchartered waters, as its only just been announced
