The market is such that the LLU providers that offer the up to 24Mbps services are only available in a small number of financially viable exchanges; the rest are provided by ISPs offering BT

Yeh, i find out pretty swiftly that Be, Bulldog are pretty much london/docklands only isps.

Can't get Telewest. They aren't allowed to operate in my area and my employer would probably kill me if i did. I work for Sky.

It would seem, that to get stability i need to use Nildram, Zen or if possible revert to Eclipses' 2mb line. However it would seem that Eclipse no longer do the 2mb service and in fact everyone is trying to push customers to use the upto 8mb services. Pricing 2mb use above or equal to upto 8mb.

And i've been reading alot on companys like TalkTalk, Tiscali, EFH, Virgin, BT, Orange, Pipex, Aol.. all have hidden extras... or capping.

To be honest, i don't care about throttling, it think its actually a good idea. Capping i wouldnt mind so long as it was pretty high. I can download patches that are 10gig in size for games and movies each 6-8gig in size. Not to mention a usage of 2-3 gig a day just playing the game.

Which means i need to have 60 gig of usage a month. (downloads not included) Or i can find myself unable to play and i can't go without some kind of mmorpg every 24 hours. So people drink beer others smoke weed... i play mmos...

If i am to move, i think probably Nildram or Zen are my only real options. But

You could consider approaching your employer Sky to see if they can do you a deal on a UK Online up to 22Mbps service when they finally put kit in your exchange as they now own Easynet and by that acquisition own UK Online!

According to the news section in ADSLGUIDE Sky\Easynet\UK Online will have equipment in up to 750 exchanges by the end of 2006 and is aiming on eventually having kit in around 1200 exchanges covering around 70% of the UK Households. See link below

I have not see or heard of a list but the activations seem to be happening as on the 22nd March 2006 ADSLGUIDE news reported 232 exchange has been unbundled by Easynet, see link below

So that's 22 exchanges since the 22nd March 2006 but there are no RFS dates at present i am afraid.

Well it was forecast that the lack of bandwidth available to some ISP's would lead to restrictions on their service, this is certainly true in the case of tiscali, plusnet, pipex, and now it would seem Ace.
So if you want an unlimited and uncapped product I think you have to look at one of the LLU providers, Check to see if Be* is available at your exchange.

The only thing that may go against a Max adsl or Be*s adsl2+ product e.g. is the legnth of your telephone line, which could cuase a problem if you have a long line, and certainly if you are over 5 Km from your exchange Be* would not provision you.


The reason I went with Be* they are the only LLU provider that have a three month NO STRINGS notice period, and your telephone remains with BT so you can use the cheap providers such as 18866 etc for your calls. See the link below

Most migrations occur withing 8 days ... new provides can be as fast as 4 working days.

Things can go wrong of course. This is usually down to third party suppliers, although Be* never blame them- BT screw up a small percentage of the migrations, and LLU to LLU is still a cease and re-provide. The Be Box can be late arriving in a small number of cases, thanks to our friends at parcelforce.

I am very happy with my Be* connection, and have not had any big problems with Be*

support is OK and improving,[i.e. 0800 numbers in july] and Be* have promissed investment in extra bandwidth as the network grows to keep contention invisible

In all my gaming years i've never come across an online game that would use this amount in a day? more like 360-480 meg and thats playing solid for 24 hours.
