BT Total Broadband Option 3 or UKFSN, can't decide

[link to this post]

Got my MAC from AOL, now just need to decide where to go. Narrowed it down to BT Option 3 or UKFSN

I'm weighing up UKFSN and Vivacity (both enta resellers) but I'm in the same boat as you. To be perfectly honest I don't want to be watching the bandwidth at all, but it appears unless your willing to pay

Could always be worth going with UKFSN, as your only hedp to a monthly contract, so if your not happy, you have no problems.

Very true, I used to download 100GB a month pretty much without fail, now this month I'm on about 30GB so far so I've cut my usage down a lot, I used to download stuff for the sake of it and never use what I'd downloaded most of the time, now I just download what I know I'm going to use and the majority of it is either game demos or videos from e.g IGN and 1up.com etc.
I still like the package you get with BT and it's tempting, I have to believe a lot of the horror stories are down to incompetent users (no offence anyone) or faulty lines. I'm in a 4 year old house so obviously new wiring etc, in all the time I've been on broadband here I have never synced at less than 8192kbps, surely just getting the BT Home Hub isn't going to change that drastically! As the Vivacity chap said though, UKFSN is less risky I suppose. I'll mull it over for a few days, I can't afford to pay my new ISP until a week on Wednesday when I get paid anyway and I'm not sure when I'd be expected to pay them , at the time of activation or at the time I place the order?

If you want BT forcing Yahoo onto your computer, firing up IE and Outlook when you boot, and generally taking control of your system, then it should be fine!! I don't know if they still do, but they used to put things up on their portal like - We've got this new thing, why not take a look? So you do, and whammy - it is installed and impossible to uninstall. They make Microsoft look like amateurs at controlling the world - and you.

And don't think well at least it is BT so if there is a problem there's only one place you have to go to to get it sorted. BT phones/lines and BT Broadband are separate companies so it's no different to any ISP - it is always the one you are not talking to that is the problem.

Well for a start I have no intention of installing anything off the installation CD they provide, there's nothing on there that's absolutely necessary so no point. Take your point though

Horror stories?

BT are signing up thousands of punters a day. In fact, over the last quarter BT's share of new business increased to 34% from 25% in the first quarter. So clearly Total Broadband is a very attractive product with millions of customers that is standing up against fierce competition.

If all things are equal, a company with a userbase, say 50 times the size of Entanet referrers should have 50 times the amount of horror stories posted in the forum. I dont see that.

In any case of dispute. BT are a member of an Ofcom approved Alternative Dispute Resolution scheme and it is clear to see their address and company number. Perhaps entanet referrer, Vivaciti would be able to tell us the ADR scheme they belong to, their address and company number for comparison?

Clearly nonsense. You do not have to have BT Yahoo 'forced' onto your computer with BT any more than you have linux 'forced' onto your computer with UKFSN.

In my view, BT is best for reliability. Entanet referrers are best for punters using 100s of gig a month.

Just where have BT hidden the terms of their FUP and why have they gone to such lengths to hide it? If a provider can't be open and honest about such an integral and fundamental section of the contract, can they be trusted with any other part of the service?
