UKONLINE MAC CODE INVALID?

[link to this post]

Ok i want to move from UKONLINE to SKY BB,.

Phoned up UKOline to get my MAC code and the CR said that he could give me my MAC code but he advised me against it as there have been alot of problems with the MAC codes they issue coming back as invalid. So he said to save myself time cancel UKONLINE and then sign up with SKY BB.

He waited until after i cancelled to tell me it would take 5 days before my line would clear, until then i'd be without BB and unable to join SKY!

I ended up taking his advice but i have a nasty feeling UKonline have pulled a "fast one".

if sky wont take or cant take the ukonline mac code there isnt much else you can do except cease ukonline and then rejoin sky.

It seems when it comes to getting a MAC for LLU services there can still be issues, whos REAL fault the issues are be it the provider you are with or the provider you want to join is anyones guess

just called ukonline again and CR said she has never seen any of their customers since she's been there (9 months) who's managed to successfully move over to SKY using a MAC code.

I spose, freely admit i may be wrong, it could be sky refusing them, maybe sky want you to upgrade your tv package or other similar non-sense before they will let you join?

To be honest i dont know, I dont have sky tele and never would judging by the price of it and the terrible reception it can suffer from. But i can say the way sky operate at times i would not be shocked if it is their fault, i know for a fact people have left ukonline and gone to bethere and even other NON-LLU bt max based products with little or no issue, so personally i would say its sky causing the grief.

Yes, I agree - these businesses really need to get their own houses in order and stop penalising the end user; if it's not to late I would go back and insist on a MAC key and let them fight it out.

I agree, also. Its a pretty sly way of not issuing an MAC, and, at the same time not being in breach of the OFCOM rules regarding the issuing of MACs ..........getting the user to take back his request for one

looks like the support person using their common sense to me, you would have to have cancelled anyway after the mac was rejected, which means your time until you are on sky would have been longer still.

I think whilst that's a relevant Point let's not forget Sky have nearly 500k of users and whilst their tech support is very poor there are many 100k of users who are happy, and it's rare you see these people posting.

Current I am a very happy Sky user, but I accept the fact that Sky's support could be much better so it's not all doom and gloom
