Following on from that, and Baldur's post, the OP says "looking at ending my contract and requesting my MAC". That is two separate actions. Some ISPs automatically end the contract 30 days after issuing a MAC, I'm not sure if that is now supposed to happen.
Whatever, if you specifically ask for a MAC and ask to end the contract, then that is what will happen. If then you do not use the MAC to migrate, so it lapses, you will not be able to get another, as a MAC (Migration Authorisation Code) is to enable easy migration and you will have nothing to migrate.
From here on is what I believe about a connection using BT IPStream, not if your broadband service is on an LLU connection.
If the contract is ceased for any reason, and so the ISP puts a Cease Order on the line to BT Wholesale(?), some time soon if not already BT will be charging the ISP to cease broadband. You may or may not get charged that cease fee, or even with a mark-up for "administration". Depends on the individual ISP. The line will be completely de-activated regarding broadband.
If you find out and think about the costs, plus the hassle you will quite possibly get, plus a possible cease fee, almost certain connection fee and email address changes, it may be better and even cheaper to just pay for the 2 months. You can request a MAC during the second month if you want to migrate. It is going to depend I suppose on who your ISP is and how much you are paying at the moment.
