Unhappy with TalkTalk, who next?

[link to this post]

Hi all, I was with Cable&Wireless for a couple of years for my phone line and I had Pipex for the ADSL. TalkTalk have since taken over the phone line and now Pipex ADSL won't work. Pipex have been very helpful and told me that I have a PSTN fault on the line. I have tried now for 2 weeks to get through to TalkTalk to get them to rectify this and after limitless Indian call-centers and also people from TalkTalk UK saying they'll call us back, I've got nowhere and given up.

I would like to start from scratch, and hopefully get a decent phone line, perhaps from a provider who can supply phone and ADSL in one package. I am in Maidenhead and Virgin do not supply this area, allegedly.

What should I do next to banish TalkTalk and get with someone who actually works?

Thanks.

I'd guess nobody can find it within themselves to recommend any combined telephone and ADSL broadband suppliers.

You may need to give some idea of your expected usage to get some practical help.

Apologies, I thought perhaps I had gone into too much detail!

I would like a 2mb service, with at least a 5GB monthly transfer. For the phone line just something with a bundle of free calls or free evening and weekend would be good.

Hope that helps.

I again like a person a few posts ago would NOT recommend any of these suppliers that bundle free calls...... The old saying of you get what you pay for (or not in this case) springs to mind......... MY advice, avoid all the bundled call rubbish, keep the phone side of things with BT, for your internet use there are dozens of providers that would kill for a light user (5Gb) such as yourself.
Id say look at newnet, fast.co.uk, IDnet or UKFSN for starters.
Wont be as cheap as these that offer free calls and other gloss but will be a damn site better in terms of service.
I guess after your bad talk talk episode you need to decide..... What is more important, price or the service?

Thanks for your replies.

I take it that with NetNet, IDNet etc I'll need a BT line anyway?

So what would I do to get going? Will ordering a BT line mean that BT write TalkTalk out of the equation and take over?

I am currently with Pipex for my ADSL and they have been good, so I don't see any real reason to switch from Pipex, unless you guys reckon there is better out there.

TalkTalk and Bulldog have a poor service record, but I didn't realise people disliked BT so much! I know they're pricey and their customer service is a bit hit and miss, but at least you're dealing with a single supplier, and one that knows the business better than anybody in the UK.
