Pipex If you are a customer of BT, Demon or Pipex, chances are you enjoy a better connection speed, less downtime and fewer connection failures than your friends who use other providers.


Epitiro, a web monitoring company, has issued statistics for the first quarter of 2007 which name BT, Demon, AOL, Pipex and TalkTalk as the best broadband providers in terms of customer experience.


The Internet Performance Indicator (IPI) report for the first part of this year saw two ISPs - Orange and Virgin - drop out of the top five, to be replaced by the Carphone Warehouse's two brands, AOL and TalkTalk.

Sure, forum posts will give an idea on the percentage of unhappy customers. So you could measure the amount of unhappy customers on the forum balanced against the number of customers a provider has.

So BT with their 1 million plus punters should have 100 times the amount of posts in the isp unhappiness forum than small providers with 10k customers if the service is equal. Or more or less if the service is better or worse.

These are benchmarking measures that look at the technical performance of the provider only.

More importantly this company only look at the top ten ISPs (by number of subscribers). So those of us blessed with high speeds and great customer service will never see our ISPs listed.

The company only compares isp's that sign up to their benchmarking service. So I wonder why these isp's that bless everyone with high speeds and good services are scared of benchmarking with their peers.

Some of the players are either missing out on a trick or are not as sure of their technical performance as their fans are...

The statement is not worth the words they have written, nothing more then a company blowing its own trumpet. Smells worse then my bathroom the morning after the curry the night before.
