ADSL when far from exchange (ASDL2+?)

Hi,

I'm 2.8KM from my exchange, which apparently is quite far. As such, I'm only getting a 1.8MB connection speed (behaves like 1.6mb in speed tests).

Is it likely that if I change to an ISP which supports ADSL2+ that I would likely get a faster connection speed, or does ASDL2 only offer faster connections for people who are close to their phone exchange.

I was wondering if a provider like Sky or BeUnlimited would be able to give me a faster connection than my current provider.
