Your package looks really promising but can you answer a few questions for me:

When you say 8IP's do you actually mean 9? so there are 2 for the router (internal and external) and 2 for the network and broadcast addresses leaving 5 usable?

And can you show me average ping times to bbc.co.uk, google.co.uk and 1and1.co.uk?

Thanks
Andrew.

Hi,
No it's 8 ips 1 broadcast, 1 router and 1 network address, that leaves 5 for anything else.

Ping times are below, of course they would be better but there are 6 others all using the net right now (lunch time!)

X:\>ping www.bbc.co.uk

The ping times aren't bad, but they are a bit higher than currently, however as you say if there are others using the connection then they would be worse.

You say 1 for the router? The router would need an external and an internal address...

Also out of interest what is a typical Vivaciti IP range?

edit: Is it possible to configure one of my servers as the Name Server for the reverse DNS of the IPs?
edit: What kinds of invoices can you provide?
Andrew.

In the normal set up the router would have 1 public IP for WAN side, and a private IP using NAT on the LAN, ir you dont need this, then you could have the same I on both ends of the router depending on the setup/abilities of the router.
The IP range are pulled at random from the pool when the order is placed, and could be from any number of ranges.
rDNS would be set up from this end, although you could use your own DNS boxs for your own DNS
Invoices are by PDF emailed every month, or can be downloaded from the ebilling site.

Hi,

Just to confirm do you mean 8 internet (public) IP's or internal IP's or how many of each ?

If you are planning on using 8 public IP addresses you need make sure you router / firewall is able to support that many and route them as you require. For most home use 1 fixed public IP is fine even if you are running EMail , Websites etc. You can then use port forwarding / NAT to route services to the correct device on your internal network.

Hope that helps,

Some are happy with just the one external IP address and don't need an external IP address on the internal side (if you follow).

I'll take that option

Thanks for the post, yeah I know the deal, I run 4 servers from home and they all need their own external facing port 80 hence the IPs.

I'm 99% certain that my router needs both... (DG834G)
At the moment I have an external address 82.118.119.xxx and eight in the 82.118.125.xx range. All the devices directly behind that router use on of the eight IPs and so need the router to have an internal (but public) address on the same range to route traffic through it. If I'm making sense...
