Move from IDNET?

[link to this post]

Hi

I am considering moving from IDNET to another ISP.

IDNET have been fantastic and their customer service is top rate but I cannot justify spending 24.99 for a 30gb download limit when there are cheaper options. One of the things I like about IDNET is that its only a monthly contract.

I guess I will have to sacrifice this monthly contract in exchange for an unlimited download ISP.

Can anyone suggest who I can try?

Just remember most "unlimited" ISPs are nothing of the sort. You're looking for bigger allowances for less money so I guess the options are fairly limited.

Sky or BE if they have unbundled your exchange would be the obvious choices. If not have a look at the Entanet resellers.

Very true -- unless you've got one of the good LLU providers (listed above) at your exchange, there's no cheaper option for a larger allowance*, as anyone who says "unlimited" actually has a Fair Usage Policy that means they can decide to throttle your connection if they arbitrarily decide you've downloaded too much

* Other than Entanet, but they do 30GB peak, 300GB off-peak, so watch the times

Thanks for the replies. What does unbundled my exchange mean?

LLU is Local Loop Unbundled, i.e. an ISP has put their own kit in the BT exchange.

Check here http://www.samknows.com/broadband/search.php to see if any ISPs have unbundled your exchange.

IDNET may appear expensive but they have a realistic, real world price for their packages. They charge their customers what BT charge them plus a normal profit margin. Be careful of some of the loss leaders.

Hope you find what you are looking for.
