ISP with short-term contract

[link to this post]

Hi, Im moving to Sheffield and will be renting for 2 or 3 months. After i have got to know the good (if any )and bad areas of Sheffield i plan to buy a house. Therefore i need an isp who wont tie me in for a long contract. Im currently with ID Net who im pretty happy with however they're rather expensive thesedays.

Oh i'd rather not have any traffic shaping and would hope to get 8mb max or better. Sub 30per month would be good.

thanks in advance

I would highly recommend ADSL24 - Monthly contract and you can cancel/migrate at any time without any fuss. No traffic shaping but there are usage limits. I'm currently on their Home 30 product which gives me 30gig peak and 300gig off peak usage.

I tend to do the majority of my downloads at off peak times (10pm - 8am Mon - Fri and all weekend from 10pm Fri to 8am Mon).

Support is always spot on.

In reply to:

No traffic shaping

but there is the ALT which may mean it slows down markedly after 10pm and at weekends.

connection charge may be an issue, for very short term other options may be better..

Also something to take into account is if you are renting is that you might have to pay 125 to have BT install the line, then obviously have the monthly line rental for this and be tied into a 12 month contract. A temp wireless broadband option could be your best?
