Which ISP & landline phone?

[link to this post]

At present our line rental is with BT (14/m), calls with TT (15/m) and broadband with IDnet (Lite 17+/m) adding up to 46/m. I am looking at three options to reduce costs:
TT phone and broadband - 17/m with 18m contract
BT phone (10.50/m), O2 Access broadband (17.50/m) - total 28/m with 12 month contracts
Idnet phone and broadband Max - 36/m with 1 month contract

All three exclude the cost of weekday daytime calls for which I think IDnet would be the cheapest as the others have a call setup charge but we don't make a lot of daytime calls. If and when O2 LLU my exchange then I could get the 7.50/m broadband but to go with O2 we need to have one mobile with them.

If the IDnet package was around the 30 mark I think I would stay with them but am leaning towards O2 and BT. We use around 10gb/m but I think this will increase.

All views welcomed!

Plusnet provide a phone and broadband bundle, you will need to check out all the options.

They have a traffic management system for their BB packages which is clearly explained on their website.

You can always ask questions on their TB forum >>>>>>> link

I like to keep my phone and broadband with different suppliers, and as the costs of other providers are only marginally lower than BT's for the phone I have stayed there.

Having said that, my 74-year-old brother went with TT on their top package at the time, (International 3?), about 18 months ago and is very pleased. I don't expect they use as much bandwidth as you though. Lots of phone calls to Australia free - his wife has family there.

Current equivalent looks like your example plus 4 = 21pm to include daytime UK on top of it. But I wouldn't choose it.

I would go for the second option - BT Option 2 plus Telephone Preference Service to give you free caller display, and an O2 mobile. Similar to my own choice except I didn't want an O2 contract mobile, and of course I can get the LLU.

In reply to:

If you are fully au fait with the technical terms and understand where Microsoft and anti-virus updates fit in and so on, and most importantly, if you can find it. That is far from clear.

If I wasn't sure about details I would look at the Help and Support pages on the website for a start,
what else can you do if it's all new to you?

If I terminate my CPS phone service contract does the line and calls automatically revert to BT to whom I pay line rental?
