Suggested new ISP moving from Tiscali

I want to move from Tiscali currently get about 0.7mps, when I do line tests though on samknows it says up to 8mps. Also I checked on Samknows and I can get no LLU providers. It looks like IDNet get a good review. I like the 1 month option. Also I only use it for browsing and small downloads like adobe updates etc. No gaming required. I have a wireless router from tiscali but also my own one a netgear I could use. I use a work laptop that is very new but still slow on wireles or through PC. I am also only about 878m from the exchange!

Have a look at Newnet and Zen as well as IDNet. Newnet could very well be best for your usage.

I managed on the Home Lite package until recently, and was able to get O2 LLU when I needed to upgrade so that won hands down over Newnet Home M as it costs me £7.50pm.

The banner prices are annual contract divided by 12. Click the View Package buttons to see the monthly contract prices.

If you have access to an O2 mobile phone that you could link the number to a broadband contract then O2 Access - on the right on this page is worth a look if you will accept a 12-month minimum term. Without the mobile number it would be too expensive.

The ISPs compared. O2 had problems with capacity shortage due to rapid growth from October to 19 December, so I expect their rating to rise back up for the January report.

Thank you, I do not have a O2 mobile also newnet and IDnet look similar on price and we used to use Newnet with the old telecoms company I worked for so I know they are pretty good and technical service they seem to know what they are talking about, but IDNet do offer the 1 month contract so in case it is no better than tiscali I can still move.

As I said, on Newnet click the View package button on each banner and you see the price for Monthly Contract. Except on Home Lite 12 which I don't think would give you enough allowance. Upload is added to download on all Newnet. I think only download counts on IDNet.

I thought Newnet was cheaper under 20GBpm, but maybe prices have changed. I will look later.

Unless you actually have a line or premises problem with your wiring then either is streets ahead of Tiscali. If there is a problem then obviously that is another matter.

Right, uploads are metered (so you can see your traffic on your accounts page), but not charged.

Idnet and Newnet are on a par but as Bill said only downloads are counted and I am biased as I have been with them for quite a few years now and have never been disappointed.
