Which ISP Zen or Idnet?

[link to this post]

I've had enough of F2S since the takeover by Tiscalli so I've asked for a MAC code.
The question is where next. I'm not a heavy user, I only download about 5MB a month and sometimes a bit more on the rare occasion when I'm building a new Linux system. Zen and Idnet would seem to fit the bill but can't decide which one. Zen would appear to be a bigger company but use 0845 numbers for support whereas Idnet are smaller and use 0800 numbers.
Any input, user experience would be helpful.

regards

Both those have good reputations so I'd be guided by price. I'd also throw NewNet into the mix and consider Be and O2.

I would look at Newnet as well, they seem comparable and unless things have change probably cheaper if you take the Home M 12GB package at £17.56pm on a monthly contract.

Note that is the total of upload and download - the others only count download. Even allowing for that you should be well under 12GB, whereas you could easily exceed the 5GB download on the others as everyone's usage bloats.

IDNet and Zen seem to be very much a question of it not mattering which way up the coin lands when you toss it. Both have very good reputations, as does Newnet.

Hi there Ibum370,

Zen offer contact by their standard national telephone numbers as well as their 0845 ones and have staff in on Saturdays and Sundays for technical support.

http://www.zen.co.uk/contact/contact-us-standard.aspx

With Idnet you have to leave a message on the weekend and they will call you back, or send them an email when they will reply as some point over the weekend.

Regards

Reality

Newnet support is basically defunct on Sundays but is rarely needed.

F2S use 0871 numbers and aren't available at weekends. They don't keep the system status updated on their website, so if you want to find out what is going on you have to phone their expensive number. I've been caught out a couple of times lately thinking the problem was my end because of this. They have also not been responding to support tickets but just automatically closing them after three days. Many thanks for the input everyone.

Oops - sorry. (Has the Saturday changed since I left or was it always there?)
