I need an ISP and use 40gb a month

[link to this post]

Hi there,

I've just moved from Entanet to o2 and the pings and throughput during the evenings are terrible.

I'm looking to get a good idea who to go to if I decided I have had enough of o2.

I use around 40gb of data per month and there is no LLU on my exchange.

Any idea's guys? Price needs to be < £25

No LLU? me neither except TalkTalk...But it's turned out to be excellent for me personally. No regrets [as yet] leaving BT based providers.

How about Plusnet? £19.55 a month for 30GB but *free overnight usage midnight to 8am. I was with them years ago, pretty good but the harsh throttling of certain protocols made me migrate. They might be better now?.

IDNet, £24.46 a month again with only 30GB usage but unlimited upload!, may make a difference to you. No throttling either but had serious reliability issues when I was with them.

Zen, pretty much the same with no throttling and unlimited upload but fantastically reliable, but £24.46 for only 25GB

Anyway not much help I know, I had a look at a few others but none had a usage of 40Gb odd for under £25.

My previous ISP was Entanet [UKFSN] it's still one of the best deals, but it seems they're having major problems right now.

If you have Sky TV, then i suggest you consider Sky's Connect service (non-LLU) @ £17 pm with a 40GB monthly download limit. If you don't have Sky, then consider UKOnline's non LLU service for £20 pm but with no download limits (i guess a FUP applies). Both of these are highly rated and if/when your exchange gets LLU'ed by Sky/UKO (easynet), then you can easily transfer to their LLU service getting faster speeds for less money. On the downside, both Sky and UKO tie you into a 12 month contract

4thenet, are you a reseller of some sort?

Can't seem to find you in the ISP section.

Worth checking out Namesco also, £14.95 pm but only 1GB included, but for an extra £10.00 pm you get another 50GB. Unlimited uploads also I think. http://www.names.co.uk/broadband-gold.html

Pings on the connection need to be decent.

I don't mind a FUP, 1Mb at peak times would be sufficient.

Not really interested in "hard caps" .

How about Demon HomeOffice 8000 £22.51 a month inc VAT with a "soft" 60GB monthly download limit.

Or get unlimited downloads for only £14.99 a month from... Tiscali
