Moving from Enta to Be Pro?

Been with enta a couple years. It's now time to move on as the service is now unaccetpable. Thought about Be Pro...?

I'll pay up to £30/month and like most want a fast/reliable service. Last few months I've been using 50gb BW/month

I switched that way, was activated just over a week ago, and have been very happy with the service so far. See this post for a more detailed first impression.

While I've not punished the connection every day/night since activation (which was first thing Wednesday morning), I grab something large enough to measure (i.e. TV or other video content, program downloads, and so on) most days and tonight has been the first time I've seen speeds noticeably below what my sync rate should be capable of - and even that was more than my Enta connection at best (in fact, slightly more than an 8Mb link can do anywhere) and <nips off for a quick test> things seem to be back to "normal" now.

There are some users who have recently experienced congestion and/or latency issues to the point of annoyance, and one or two who still report problems, but most users seem happy and Be seem to have acknowledged the need for some infrastructure investment where there are still problems and set a timescale for that investment. So not all good, but the company seems to show a more healthy response to problems than other ISPs I could mention have shown recently.

That would get you Be Pro and £8.50 change, unless you need 8 IP addresses in which case you'd need to push your budget up one pound per month.

If you don't need more than one static IP address, don't need or want (or can't have due to line length - post your line stats and people will help you judge that) Upload Plus, and don't use your connection for work purposes, then you could save another £4/month with Be Unlimited, or more if you have an O2 mobile and go for one of their LLU offerings (which are on the same equipment as Be unless you go for the Access package). The word "unlimited" is usually something thta makes me very wary, though by all accounts your 50Gb or transfer per month is not going to be a problem at all.


Edit: I've just checked my server stats, and it shows a jump in latency that is persisting (see here) and the Be status page (here) says there are some problems in the north, which would explain that latency jump and the slower throughput I saw earlier this evening.

I presume you have checked you can get Be? if you can, you can also get O2 LLU. (It's O2 Access which is having some bad problems like Enta.

Look for a recent post by MKD in either forum and follow the tinyurl link in his sig to his excellent comparison of the two. Particularly look out for special offers on each web site, and Quidco for money back.

Unless your line will actually support around 15Mbps or higher then you probably wouldn't get the faster uplaod of Pro, on either Be or O2. Best to sign up to the next one down if there is any doubt. Changing is easy.

I recommend this estimator.

You are looking at £22.02p at most! That's for Pro on O2 without an O2 mobile. Drop down a level like I suggest and it's well under £20. And 50GB is peanuts.
