Surfwise is not 21CN, it is standard ADSL. There has always been an 832kbps upload option on ADSL Max (IPStream).

But I think one of us is mis-reading the vivaciti site re Office. I see it as £46pm.

AAISP use both standard ADSL and WBC I think, depending on the exchange status.

That's what I'm on. I get the 832k up. Well, around 700k up anyway

They are pricey, but if you want premium UK service, and a limited ammount of bandwidth that can be used anytime then go for it.

Don't if you think you'll go over their tight limits.

Well, for the price, you can't really fault it. 75gb, 832k down for £30 a month? Not many can do that. I jumped from ADSL24/Enta.

There was some concern a few weeks back which turned out that O-Bit, who provide the service were traffic shaping, even though they weren't meant to be. Even the O-Bit salesteam thought it wasn't going on......

Vivaciti did acknowledge this and vowed to sort it out. I never actually noticed any speed drops, but latest reports seem to indicate it has been resolved.

Last night there was some pretty bad lag going on, but that's the first I've noticed.

There is no offpeak period, so everything counts.

Vivaciti themselves seem pretty on the case and helpful. Although I do note a few people saying that they'd requested MAC addresses and had been waiting a week or so.

I'm pretty happy with it(having been with them a month now), but I'm not sure the limit is enough for me. But I do like to keep that 832k up.......

Take a look at the Vivaciti forum - specifically the ADSL problems one and check the Surfwise threads.

Just when you think you've found your perfect match in the ISP world you inevitably find out that it's too good to be true.

Shame that the 75GB is 24/7, I cant see that specified on their site. I don't like the sound of all these speed issues either.

Maybe the AAISP is the best way to go, just annoying that it's such a big jump to get the bigger upload speed and such a tight usage limit in the day.

Yes moved from an Entanet provider as the service was under rapid deterioration
If you can exist within the tight Peak time bandwidth,
AAISP are well worth the shift.

Usage
All of our tariffs are based on usage. The peak period is 9am to 6pm Monday to Friday. It is the amount you download from the internet during the peak period that is the main factor in the tariff. We do have a system of give and take from one month to another to maintain your service at a fixed monthly cost. If you regularly exceed the usage levels you will get warning emails and even text messages, and then be charged for extra usage. You can however change tariff at any time, taking effect from your next regular bill. Details.

You can change the level of daytime and eve/weekend usage included in your tariff at any time. There is no charge to change tariff which takes effect when your next regular bill is raised.

I have just moved into a new house and have adopted my girlfriend's awful Orange broadband, though not too bad considering it's free.

With the MAC code now acquired I have a free choice on a new ISP. We can only get 8mbps and would like to be on a short contract ideally (1-3 months as we're renting). I have looked at fast.co.uk and have read lots of good reports but some more recent ones had said the service was not what it was. I have an Xbox 360 that I play online with, aswell as doing quite a bit of downloading and would ideally like an ISP that offers a static IP for free or at reasonable cost. I am looking to spend no more than the £30 a month mark.

Any suggestions or help people can offer would be greatly appreciated.
