Changing from ISP, leaving Virgin

Hi,
I am considering changing ISP from Virgin. My 12 month contract is ending and the cost is doubling (to £20pm) so looking at my options.
My current setup is cable broadband. I prefer to keep it that way to avoid BT line rental fees.

I use VOIP for phone calls and very happy. Taking on a broadband contract with calls included is unnecessary.

The only ISP you can get on cable is Virgin. It's their cable and they don't supply supply wholesale connections in the way OfCom makes BT do over the phone landlines.

Try putting your postcode or address in sams mapping engine. It gives you an ADSL and ADSL2+ speed estimate.

You can get O2/Be and they are by far the best landline ISPs, so if the sam forecast is good you have a choice of getting a landline, which doesn't have to be directly through BT Retail, then O2 or Be, or staying as you are.

If the estimate is poor they won't take you and you will have to consider a few other good ones that we can recommend, but we would need more info from you as they will be less open-ended for usage.

Re VOIP I'm not sure what the position is with O2/Be so we need to check that out. But check your sam estimate first.
