Hi and thanks for having a look at this....
I have just had an offer accepted for a house and am getting close to completion. I was just checking the BT wholesale site to see what my local exchange can do for me in terms of Broadband. I got the message below.
"BT Wholesale
THE BROADBAND AVAILABILITY CHECKER
For Postcode RG1 ***
Your exchange is ADSL enabled, and our initial check on your postcode indicates that your line should be able to have an ADSL broadband service that provides a fixed line rate up to 2Mbps.
Our check also indicates that your line currently supports a potential ADSL Max broadband line rate of 6Mbps or greater.
Our check also indicates that your line currently supports a potential ADSL2+ broadband line rate of 8Mbps or greater.
The actual stable line rate supportable will be determined during the first 10 days of use. This rate may change over time, to ensure line stability is maintained.
If you decide to place an order, a further test will be performed to confirm if your line is suitable for the service you wish to purchase.
Thank you for your interest."
It looks like ADSL2+ is my fastest option. I as yet do not have a phone line either so I am looking for an 'all in one' type solution. If TV is available in the package then all the better but it is not a deal breaker. I like the look of Tiscali but is it ADSL2+ and is it a good choice, if not who else could I consider? I have heard that there is a policy of selling information about p2p by the biggest ISP's is it one? I would not trust any company that did this.
Thanks for the help
Nick
