[link to this post]

Currently with Eclipse "HOME SELECT" ( roughly around 20 squid with VAT)...which is great but im back at home now after uni and download alot....so my question is what is the best out there at the moment for the cheapest price? yet reliable? etc etc? My requirements are unlimited download and the phone for the parentals.

Cheers

Andy

What exchange are you on, ie can you get LLU of any kind?

Shame, there isn't really a non-LLU ISP that offer unlimited, the closest you're likely to get is Entanet via Adsl24 or (if you can restrict your heavy use till after 6pm) AAisp.

As 12eason says but with some consideration of O2 Access.

It's the only unlimited you will get at a decent price, but the performance can vary between good for a few weeks to very poor for several weeks, as new customers overwhelm the equipment additions.

Edit - there's also the question of contract length - if you might move.

Bob: Demon dialup >> Freeserve dialup >> BT Broadband >> Prodigynet >> Newnet >> O2 Premium.
Purple Cloud for domain, email and web space.

phone for the parentals.
Post-office for line rental. You could get broadband from them too (for £20 combined), but I can't recommend them as there isn't really enough feedback yet. Plusnet are another isp that do combined phone/broadband, but they have traffic shaping.
