ISP choice for me

After i ditch my current ISP(hopefully) im not wanting to make the same mistake again by signing up to a terrible one like i did.I will never have LLU in my area so that's not an option and the max my line can get is 8mbits.I want a stable connection throughout the day with a decent download limit,i would prefer unlimited but i know i will never get that on ipstream.I have been looking at entanet suppliers but i have heard alot of bad things recently with stability and the flag system,although they supposedly used to be good.I have only found 4 .Please add more that fit my needs or discuss these if you have experience with them.

Vivaciti surfwise 75gb(i would prefer another 20gb really)
ADSL24 home 30 package(30gb peak,unlimited off peak)
Plusnet unlimited(severe throttling most of the day)
Phone office broadband extra(obviously not going to be unlimited,don't know about speed and stability)

You do realise ADSL24 Home 30 is Entanet?

The vivaciti Surfwise 75 is an FUP not a hard cap and is apparently flexible. If you are normally under they say they won't cane you for an occasional overage. You may even be able to negotiate an excess usage charge for frequent overage.

The Plusnet throttling means what it says. I presume you found the expected speeds table.

Phone office broadband? Do you mean Post Office? Definitely not, in my opinion. Check it out by browsing Resellers and Other Providers forum selecting "View all posts".

Others to consider are IDNet and AAISP. The daytime Mon-Fri on AAISP is small but off-peak 100GB and a short free night period. Again flexible like Surfwise, and you can buy extra as well. I think that may be contract for extra though, not once-offs.

Hello thanks for the reply,and yes i meant post office! During the day i use alot of bandwidth so a small peak monthly limit is no good,plus there are two computers.Iplayer,google video and youtube is what most of peak bandwidth goes on and iplayer is quite bandwidth hungry itself,off peak is usually downloading from steam or usenet.Yes i was aware adsl24 was entanet but im looking at all available options really.It seems vivaciti is the best option but i couldn't see anything about it being flexible.If i could get another 20gb added to it the package would be perfect.

Seriously, I have post-office homephone and I hooked someone else up with the full package, and I've never come across the problems mentioned by others. Telephone support is immediate and extremely good/friendly, broadband speed is p good all day. I honestly don't trust the bad reports.

To the OP, if you can limit your business hours use, then consider AAisp.

In fact, following up on this, most of the posters complaining about the post-office have under 25 posts. Easy enough for a shill to come here a can the competition.

If you look in that resellers forum you should find a post by vivaciti. PM the guy and ask him if I have it right.

I just asked on the vivaciti forum about adding some gigabytes to the package and the cost it would add.Seems like the best package im going to get as LLU won't ever be in my area..small village and all.And entanet has been having alot of problems with its Flag system,don't like the whole node idea either so adsl24 package doesn't seem like a good idea,although the unlimited off peak was tempting.

Must admit that ADSL24 has been on my list of possibles, but it seems like I have nowhere near your need for traffic, though I have used USENET from time to time (and have 170+ GB in 'credit' with Astraweb!)

Clara.Net's off-peak (1800-0800 and 1800 Fri to 0800 Mon) is another I am considering (because for daytime I still have several months to go with a Three (5 GB/month) contract, and other options during the day - like using the net at places other than home) but also have the option of LLU (so getting onto Opal's {yes, part of TalkTalk before someone shouts!} business deal with BB for a fiver a month plus their phone line at 13/month, all plus VAT, is an option - they have a FUP rather than an outright limit, and if they traffic shape peer-to-peer it would not bother me, I'd just use Clara whenever it was on, and for DNS lookups 24x7).

Well i just signed up to vivaciti surfwise,hopefully all goes well...didn't mention how long the migration would take though.
