moving to north wales

[link to this post]

I've just been told ill be moving to north wales in a month, i'm currently using BE with zero problems. I checked the exchange that ill be moving to. It has no LLU operators. http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange/WNPTD

Am I screwed? I pull about 200~400gb and push about 50gb a month, my job requires me to have access to massive data sets(30gb a pop). Does anyone know of any DSL providers without a FUP?

Any help will be appreciated.

thanks

You're screwed!

You say you have been told you will be moving .... By your employer? Tell them to do your job they will need to get a leased line installed for you.

The only true unlimited ADSL Max provider I know of is O2 Access. The performance varies cyclically though. Speeds good for a few weeks, then poor for the rest of a 3-month period. Then they get more kit - speeds good more customers - speeds bad.

It's worth a look at someone like ADSL24 or vivaciti. They are Entanet resellers and offer a range of Home and Office packages with high off-peak allowances. Again, speeds may be quite poor at times though.

It may be worth trying O2 for the 30-day trial period as it is free connection so far as I know. A migration to one of the others would then be free instead of their connection charge.

If you stayed with O2 then there are the cashback and 3 free months to consider. See MKD's document for details. (It compares all O2 and Be packages and cashback, but you only want Access).

Bob: Demon dialup >> Freeserve dialup >> BT Broadband >> Prodigynet >> Newnet >> O2 Standard.

IDNet offer a superb unlimited ADSL Max solution:

http://www.idnet.net/solutions/business/broadband/

It is, however, £79.50 a month.

BUT, and this is a big but, it is the only package on the market garunteed to offer unlimited uploads and downloads, with no congestion or traffic managment whatsoever, no blocked ports, etc etc.

There are other unlimited non-LLU providers available but they will invariably have a strict FUP and / or Traffic management and / or congestion problems.

I would suggest asking your employer to subsidise this package however wink

IDNet is not necessarily unlimited at those sorts of usage.

See this thread and in particular this post.

Not knowing the full story accepted, but it seems that this should be more your employers problem than yours. If it is a job requirement I would assume they would have to pay and provide.

Just a tad sad..a wee bit old...wink
