Exactly; plenty of options but none without having to pay something for the line, either a discounted install charge from BE (and several others with similar offers - Talk-Talk, etc.), or a free install from BT but with the knowledge you'd have to get both line and broadband from BT.

I think the OP is after an el cheapo option (without possibly realising you get what you pay for) where some generous company will give him a free phone line, not charge him line rental on it and then only charge him £20 a month for broadband.

Hmmm, interesting. I must look at that. But, Infinity not here until December 31st (Exchange SLDC).

The 6-8Meg you get now, is this from speedtests, or the speed the modem is connecting at, and are you already on an ADSL2+ service.

If BT extend the offer (currently due to end on August 31st, but they've extended it several times already so there's every chance they'll do it again) I'd suggest waiting.
Who knows; you may not even have to wait until December. Up until a few weeks ago my date was September 30th, then it moved forward to September 1st, then it suddenly got enabled last week .

And that's what I'm doing. I don't see much point in jumping before Infinity is at least close as I have fallen foul before when trying to change packages before the contract period is up.
