It's a good idea to pay IDNet for the year up front. That's a free month, i.e. about 8% discount. It's what I did.

Try a BQM to the first hop that is beyond your router

Yes, I have doing that for the past couple of years and with interest rates so low it makes good sense to do so. I have also moved my phone to them which will save me about £3 per month compared to Talk Talk. I had thought that there was some advantage in keeping BB and my phone separate. A recent fault demonstrated to me that all re-sellers are reliant on BT - and it takes as long as it takes to get a fault fixed.

Affected exchanges here:

http://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Sky-Broadband-Setup-Cabl...

I was definitely affected too - although my exchange was not listed. I was told that I was affected due to being daisy chained via an affected exchange.

Also here http://servicestatus.sky.com/serviceupdates

and http://www.sky.com/helpcentre/servicestatus/messaged...

Hope this helps. Are you having issues?

Yeah sometimes I get a few timeouts but my exchange isn't on the list so it can't be the reason.

Thanks for the help smile

A little late but not strictly true, my cab has been FTTC enabled for around 18 months and have had FTTC for 12 months.
Sky Fibre is not currently available to me, i enquired last night armed with MAC. All you get is a link to show your interest.

Apparently not all the Sky LLU exchanges have equipment to allow FTTC, somebody quoted 17% of Sky LLU customers can get Sky Fibre on a Sky forum.

Households with access to Sky LLU over 80%+

Households with access to FTTC/P ~28%

These are not a total match, some FTTC will exist in areas where Sky has not LLU'd the exchange, but should be a fairly small number

well to update I've gone with bt over sky, phoned yesterday and they offered 12months at £17.25/month. the lady I spoke to didn't mention it at the time but when I looked at order tracking on mybt it said 18months contract lengt, phoned up again to be told its a 18month contract with first 12months discounted. engineer coming to fit it on 1st may, next available date was 24th April but we have the current month paid with our current isp(adsl24).

was phoning up to check something about our current line rental before ordering online going via quidco for £50 cashback, but the discount offered on the phone was higher than the cashback so ordered it over the phone.

How did you get a quicker install date, at best i have to wait until 2 May before they can claim back the line.
Therefore will have to cancel.

As I understand it they are not allowing existing FTTC users to migrate in at the moment. It could be they do not have the procedures in place, as even BT Retail don't find it easy.
