Note! The router has to accept a WAN connection over ethernet from the modem. Not a LAN connection.
Some ADSLx routers can be configured with one of the LAN ports acting as a WAN one, but not many so far as know.
If you aren't bothered about a gigabit LAN, I can recommend the
Buffalo Airstation Nfiniti WHR-G300N. The current £31.40 inc delivery is high! Often £25-£28

Ah! Looking closer, I see ther "newer" [cough] version is £25.17 at the moment. I'd go for the cheaper at the time if you go for either.
The gigabit LAN version of it seems a bit less plug'n'go.
