No, G.INP is disabled by a DLM reset which happens when you change products or move ISPs. It should come back on is a couple of weeks or so, if you're on a Huawei cabinet.

Different story on an ECI cabinet - you may be waiting till April.

Thanks for the clarification. I have no idea which type I am on as I never had a separate modem before I joined just the HH5 and I can't see any reference to it in my helpdesk stats.

most providers offer 40/2 or 40/10 as their cheaper packages and 80/20 as their higher option.

BT recently changed to 55/10 for their cheaper package, so if you're looking at the budget end of the market I think that's the best choice.

For 80/20 connections I'd proabably suggest plusnet.

I've had fibre from BT, Sky and Plusnet and the connection was similar on all. Plusnet customer service was better than Sky which was better than BT.

That's if your line can achieve (well) over 40Mbps . If it can't then 55/10 is no advantage.
