End of contract, changing ISP

my BT contract ended yesterday, so am looking for a new isp provider. looking at the current deals, i have a short list of Now Broadband and Plusnet.

I am inclined towards Now as it works out cheaper

Appreciate any views on Now as I haven't seen any comments on this ISP on this forum.

It�s been commented on quite a lot on these forums.

It�s actually called NowTV, not Now. Use the Search function for NowTV choosing �All posts� instead of the default �3 weeks� and you�ll get a long list .

It�s owned and run by Sky. I buy a Day Pass for Formula 1 races that aren�t on Channel 4, so can stream them through my ISP. It generally works OK for that, but from what I�ve read posted by people who have migrated to it as their ISP I wouldn�t take the full service.

I was with Plusnet for a while. If I had to choose between them, I would go with Plusnet, though their own accounting and ordering systems are a mess. They are wholly owned by BT, in case you don�t know that.

If your prime concern is price, don't then complain about the quality of service. Cheap nearly always means corners are being cut somewhere!

if things are working ok then all suppliers are basically the same,it's when things don't work as they should you discover the difference,I am now with Idnet after various cheaper suppliers over the years,took them a couple of weeks to identify an issue on my line that sky and plusnet ,combined with openreach(as Idnet have to use as well)took over 2 years not to fix,to me the extra cost is worth it but depends on where your priorities lie,if its cost,go cheap if its quality pay slightly more

How much cheaper is it? £5, £10?

I am with NowTV and I am looking at moving soon.

Customer Service is good, but my connection isn't great, and I dislike their supplied router (you can use your own but it's a nightmare)

On the other hand it's only a 30 day rolling contract!

diff is £10

30 day contract is attractive as things don't work then i can switch again

i am aware of the router (seen your earlier posts CJT)

am i correct in saying that as i am now out of contract, i can switch without informing BT ? Thats what i understood from various posts on BT forums. I understood as 14 day notice which the switch over period will address.

You can indeed.

It's gaining provider led, so you call or order online and your soon to be new ISP handles the move.

Expect a "sorry to see you go" message from BT.
