Migrating from VM to BT procedure

Hi can someone explain the procedure to migrate from VM to BT FTTC please and what may be the pitfalls of the migration.

You order, and the line is installed, and the FTTC activated.

The pitfall might be that there are problems getting the line back to the cab ... but this is normally sorted on the same day.

Do I need to inform VM I am leaving or will this be done by BT?

You do need to notify VM. It's not a migration as you are moving between 2 physical networks.

It depends on your budget, and if you can afford to run two together, but if you can, I would wait until the new Openreach service is installed before you cancel your Virgin Media service.

I would assume there is a 30 day notice period.

That is very useful as not to be without phone line and internet for probably weeks.

As a fallback insurance, look into a monthly mobile broadband contract with Smarty, so you can tether without worry.
