embedded movies crash internet connection

This probably sounds crazy but I've been finding that my wireless connection gets locked up whenever a site has embedded movie files.
For example the BBC's online world cup coverage and just recently noticed the same with peoples myspace accounts where they've uploaded a movie on their site.
The page seems to lock and not only do I have to reboot my pc but also unplug my wireless router as I can't automatically reconnect.

Clicking on a youtube link is ok. I'm running the latest version of firefox on a new dell laptop with windows XP Media Centre edition

I could understand a faulty website crashing my browser, or even needing me to restart my machine, but the way it freezes my wireless connection is a bit baffling. My wife's Mac gets locked out based on what I do.

Has anyone heard anything similar?

Firefox - theres your problem, try it in ie, if the same link works in ie. There are some issues with firefox and media player, mine freezes for about 10 seconds when closing a tab with wmp11 in it.

Thanks for the tip but it does the same with IE. I'm downloading WMP 11 beta at the moment so I'll see how it goes with that.
