Moving to differnt versions of vista

Say if you where buying a 32bit os of vista at the moment, could you upgrade the os to the 64bit version at a later date?

Officially I don't believe you can [without doing a complete reinstall] but there are many stories on Google of such - have a search under upgrade Vista 32 bit to 64 bit

Would you say it's better to have the 32bit os (Because software is more 32bit based) with 64bit processor?

I'm not running Vista but from what I have heard and read running 64 bit is a pain in the backside, particularly when it comes to audio - I think you would have to have a very solid reason to run 64 bit and expect some issues to come with it - many drivers are still not available and this renders a lot of hardware useless.

If I were to buy a copy of Vista I would get an OEM Premium copy for

That applies ot any version of vista!!!! My mic doesn't work on 3 different sound cards on vista ... And yes the mic does work...

Works fine on all the ones I've tried (two onboard and one creative card)

Sometimes it's not the hardware or the software but the bit in between.......

Unsure of the charges (Windows anytime upgrade). There are further links in the bottom of the page which amongst other things tell you the recommended install options of all upgrade paths eg. upgrade or clean install. But as has been said 32bit > 64bit is a clean install only.

Another thing is, not all packs come with 64bit in the box and you have to request it be sent to you from Microsoft - for a so called "minimal fee", see my thread about it,

Just seen your point in your other thread regarding the "Minimal Fee" for the 64 bit DVD.

I sent for one (just in case I ever need it!) and the cost was
