Windows 7 Retail - Will you buy it ?

Microsoft is now axed many OEM version for all home users and home pc builder as Microsoft is now force every customers to buy a RETAIL version for all home users and home pc builder but it work out more expensive than the oem version.

Only the pc and laptop manufacturing can buy cheaper oem version. Seem unfair.

Remember Windows 7 Retail could cost you over £200+ per license !

the upgrade should be priced ~£100..that'll be ok, the beta is great I expect RC1 to be better and the gold to be a worthy successor to vista

I'll almost definitely install it on my main PC, because from what I've looked at on the beta, I like the changes they've made. But pay for i? Lol.

No OS for the general public is worth£200 plus. I will continue to use Vista Ultimate or go back to XP pro or even use Linux, but I will never pay over £75 for an OS, it simply isn't worth the cost.

you got vista ultimate for less than £75?! Where?

I'll wait for SP2. By then the quad CPUs and the OS in general will have become 'worth it'.

Or not if W7 proves to be a flop.

On another point, based on this link, can it be said that MS Vista is largely a failure?

I would have thought that MS would have waited until Vista had the majority of users before moving on to the next one. Or better yet, dump Vista if it is indeed failing to attract users, and look to remaking XP to suit the hardware, software and consumer needs.

I happen to like Windows 7 very much, and I also take back some of my previous comments on Vista (but the majority remain, MS didn't finish it off quite properly imho). I have Windows 7 on the downstairs machine and its excellent.

Agreed. 7 is like vista minus the lameness.
