Vista ultimate: HDD during bootup INCONSISTENT?

Hi, Could anyone shed somelight into this problem pls? I was booting up and my 2nd hdd (sata) becomes inconsistent during bootup and hence got a chkdsk type of screen during bootup, and after an hour & half, got a bit impatient so I press the reset button, not the 2nd hdd is not showing files but the properties of drive still show number of files and space used, could anyone pls tell me how to recover these files pls? thx you

try running checkdisk on it again, only this time let it finish! If you do manage to recover any date, consider replacing the drive
