Internet Explorer 8 has been released

[link to this post]

According to the BBC HERE the new browser from Microsoft has been released. However, if you go to the link that the BBC provide, which is HERE it just says that it's the Release Candidate instead. Has it actually been released?

EDIT: More information HERE. So 4pm today.

History of IE8 release versions

Also in said wiki:

Development of the browser is finished, and will be available to download for Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 at 1600 UTC on 19th March 2009.

So, like you said, 4pm today.

It looks like it's been made ready to download HERE. However, they've done something with the file because everytime I try to install it says "Corrupt File". So I'm guessing they'll be waiting till 4pm exactly.

EDIT: Now installed and posting from that. Installation didn't take very long at all.

Installed here. Took about 20 mins from click to now on my laptop. Seems faster.

Tell me. When you open a new tab, do you get a "what do you want to do next?" page?

I do. Want to disable that.

Yup I also get this. Don't think it's something that will be able to be disabled as it gives the option to go into "Private Browsing".

Had a quick look and couldn't find any settings for this.

Definitely seems much faster. However, by the LOOKS of things it hates the Acid 3 test.

I have just installed it but I am having a few problems....

For example nothing happens when I click one of the "Latest 10 active forum discussions" on the righthand side of THIS page.

Also when I CTRL+Click a link in a website, a new tab opens with "Connecting..." written on it but the new web page does not appear.

Please can anybody help?

You can change the action for a new tab in Tools > Internet Options > General > Tabs > Settings

there are 3 options...

A Blank Page

The New Tab Page

Your First Home Page
