Bandwidth Monitor

[link to this post]

Hi, I used to run a free version of NetMetre [I think!] but I now see it's a paid item - are there any rec's for freeware basic monitoring of traffic / bandwidth?

Also, I run IE6 for access to work as Notes struggles with anything above 6, and I often see 6 touted as rubbish - any particular reason why?

Thanks - Blue

NetMeter is still freeware from here http://www.metal-machine.de/readerror/index.php?acti...
and is recommended.

Might be worth looking at tbbMeter

IE 6 does a poor job in rendering css webpages - when it was the main webbrowser most websites were designed to handle it as well as Firefox etc. - However now IE 6 numbers are falling more pages stop supporting it. Personally I think Notes is worse!

It does for me and downloads the file "NetMeter_v113.exe" of 601Kb!

Seems OK as the link takes me to the website, using Firefox 3.0.11

Very odd - I'll give the tbb one a go and see how it pans out.

As I recall, the big problem is with NetMeter and the like is that it measures all traffic across a single machine whether that be WAN or LAN bound.
If you're looking for true bandwidth management and you have an SNMP capable router, something like PRTG would be a far better tool.

Which routers are SNMP capable?
Are any of Netgear's?
