Win7 Sleep

Does anyone use the "Sleep" mode instead of full shut-down?

I used to, but then it stopped working on my sytem for some reason. Wakes up almost immediately after I put it to sleep.

yup, i use it all the time. no problems at all.

Going to start using it full time, but want a desktop shortcut for it.
Currently I use C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe -s -t 0
but anyone know what it is for Sleep?

Sleep doesn't go through shutdown.exe.

You need to have hibernate disabled (power options in control panel) and then it's:

%windir%\System32\rundll32.exe powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState

If hibernate is turned on, this will hibernate the pc (which is different to sleep).

Just tell Win7 to use your power button for sleep.. Hit the power switch, machine goes to sleep.. I use it all the time..

Control Panel -> System and Security -> Power Options -> Change what the power buttons do

With previous versions of Windows this could be caused by one or more devices having the option 'Allow this device to bring computer out of standby' set. Have a look through device properties.
