Event viewer - strange dates

[link to this post]

Hi

Just want to know if anyone has an idea why when looking at a users machine the dates in the event viewer are not current / uptodate etc but show dateslike 02/15/2033 and 1970 and 2106 as the years, seems a little odd, the machine seems to be running fine but the event viewer doesnt seem to populate at all with current activities.

Thanks

Just to clarify - is it only the timestamps in the event logs that are wrong? System time is correct?

Just looked at my XP Pro Event Log. All the dates - only logs for Application and System, no entries for Security and Internet Explorer - cover the past 5 weeks or so. No strange dates.

Are the wrong dates coming from one particular application?

Is the PC on SP3 - just wondering.

Tried Google'ing, others have reported similar but I can't see any explanation.

Tony

Windows cannot find the machine account, The clocks on the client and server machines are skewed. - this is a message on the one for date 13/03/2036.

The Security Center service has been stopped. It was prevented from running by a software group policy. - this is a message on the one for date 07/02/2106

Its running sp3 and the system time date is today from what the user tells me, but I might have to check this physically.
