...its for Vista/WIndows 7 only...

After much experience with windows, I decided...
If it aint broke, why fix it!?
However, every time an update popped up, I always found myself wanting it...
After everything going wrong far too many times and what felt like a monthly format, I finally switched to mac.
Anyway, the update program seems poorly thought out.

Monthly format? You were definitely doing something wrong. I install a new release of Windows just once; I've never needed to reinstall yet, except when I change computers.

Real men don't need drivers at all. They have a driving license.

Scottish Labour politician: The SNP are on a very dangerous tack. What they are doing is trying to build up a situation in Scotland where the services are manifestly better than south of the border in a number of areas.
Interviewer: Is that a bad thing?
Scottish Labour politician: No, but they are doing it deliberately.

It was an image backup that occured every few hours...
So when something went wrong I'd go back a few hours.
It was very rarely to the point of no return, usually just something e.g. internet explorer crashing all of the time.

You had to download it manually - does that count ?

i am like that, I got myself a Corsair SSd unit and a update came out for it, I did not really need the update as the drive was ok, but I thought it may make it a bit faster or something. so I updated and it went wrong. One £150 brick.
I had to send it back to to Corsair and they sent me back a brand new one, which is nice, but it cost me another tenner to send it to them.
I will leave well alone now. At least I can update my motherboard bios any more as there are no more updates.
Macs can have problems, a friend of mine decided to up date her Mac book pro to lion and it all went belly up, with beach ball of death and the machine running really slow. She switched back to the last OS.
She said she is not going to update the other Macs.
I was thinking of getting a Mac, only a Mac mini, hut I don't think I will now as I don't want lion

I have updated to lion on 2 macbooks now, no issues. One was an upgrade, the other one I burnt Lion to a dvd and then installed a fresh.
With word when I upgraded to the newest service pack, it wouldn't open 90% of files created at work. I even reformatted and the same thing happened. Lesson learnt, do not update word.
When something is absolutely perfect and does exactly what you want - an upgrade isn't needed.
Same with routers. I hate firmware upgrades when I can already get 1000 hours uptime. Why would I want to change anything?
