My mother upgraded her PC to windows 10 [free update] about 6 weeks ago when prompted, ever since then she can not use the mail app associated with Outlook express, all the settings in the account are correct but it keeps constantly giving different errors like can not contact server at this time and then when going through the account settings again giving a different error.
She has Office 2007 installed and according to my research this is compatible with Windows 10.
Daft thing is the outlook account still works perfectly on her Android Galaxy s4 phone.
I have spent many many hours when i visit and can not get this working,i have trolled the internet and there is very little in the way of help except sfc / scannow which i have done and this has not fixed the issue.
Any ideas anyone, anybody else having issues since the windows 10 update with there outlook express mail.
Cheers.

I am confused
Outlook Express is nothing to do with Office - are you sure it is Outlook Express she is trying to address
Outlook Express will not work with Windows 10

Office has outlook express associated with it I'm led to believe ,i may be wrong or am getting mixed up but if you look at Microsoft website certain versions of Office mention Outlook express.
Anyway whatever it is i can not get outlook mail to work since the upgrade to Windows 10.

Office is full Outlook, Outlook Express was given away with earlier versions of windows and was a cut down mail client.
So, you are most likely talking Outlook itself. That is part of Office. My thoughts are that it ought to work on Windows 10 but I'm afraid I can't be of much help. It sounds like a config issue (or just Windows 10 messing about) but without seeing the machine first hand I can't think of anything specific to suggest.
EDIT : Except to say have you considered either using the inbuilt Mail program (basic but functional), a 3rd party program (such as Thunderbird) or upgrading Office to a more recent version?

Thats the next step Ian,upgrading to office 2016 or whatever its called.
Not a cheap option ,and i would be well annoyed if this didn't work.
There is the Office 365 yearly subscription at about £79.99 a year.

I know of someone using Outlook 2003 on Windows 10 without any problems. I use Outlook 2010 on it, again with no problems.

Tried the sfc/scannow it did nothing ,am i suppose to type something else after that command or what ?

This guy put Solved by running sfc /scannow then Office diagnostics. Thanks to the forum.
does he actually mean sfc /scannow office diagnostics.
Even when people explain this command they talk about a space in between the command ,is that space after the sfc or after the /.
|
|
|
|
I assume that it is sfc[space]/scannow
Then after that run the Office diagnostics from Office
|
|
|
Did you try sfc /scanow or sfc/scanow they aren't the same in cmd?

Outlook Express hasn't been support in any OS since Windows XP.
Windows Mail replaced it in Vista. That was then dropped from Windows 7.
All versions of Offiice from 2007 onward are compatible with Windows 10.
Office 2003 might work using compatability mode.
Any problems with a version of Office or its integral programs such as Outlook, it is best to fully uninstall, including all registry entries (look on the web for instructions of how to manually remove), then reinstall afresh.
If that doesn't work them a clean install of Windows will be necessary.
