If you are happy with XP do NOT under any circumstances be sucked in by the glitz of Vista unless you have a PC that is man enough to run it and are happy for an OS to treat you like a baby.

Well I like Vista more than XP as it seems more secure, so don't see what your exact problem is.

Took me 10 seconds to disable UAC so it never treats me like a baby.

Love the way XP was slagged off by the masses until the (overpriced) Vista came along and then suddenly it seems to be the best thing since sliced bread.

I never really had any complaints about XP (I have it on a desktop and laptop) other than the constant updates to keep it running secure. I did have VISTA placed on the laptop for a brief time and was not happy with it, mainly because most of the peripherals that have been purchased in the past year did not have compatible drivers yet out for it.

I have heard numerous complaint though from many, but the brief time I had it other than the problem I noted I did not experience.

No, XP was slagged off until Microsoft brought out Service Packs 1 and 2 which turned it into a reliable product. No doubt Vista will be the same. It's a pity that Microsoft rely on their customers to do the final testing of their products. Can you imagine what would happen if car manufacturers adopted this technique ?

I'm more than happy with Vista, only had one problem (Couldn't play dvd's with sound), but I installed update yesturday and it works.

I concur, I chuck everything at Vista and apart from the odd thing they all work. No problems with drivers. A lot of problems are where software companies cannot get their fingers out and do the updates.

I've been using Vista for a few months now (yes, I actually paid for it!!) and I love it. Would NEVER go back to XP - its just like taking a giant step back in time!

Its funny how most (not saying thats the case here) of the people who slag off Vista have never tried it!

Good point and although I am not one of those I shall not use it until I am sure that the applications which I use are compatible with it. Who can afford to lose any work they've done due to a system crash?

My work colleague (who uses similar applications) has had no end of problems with Vista and even has problems with several of his Microsoft applications (all updates and patches applied).
