If the DVD is encoded with 5:1 then yes it will.

But does it do spell checking?????

i had heard on web sumwhere that they had teamed up with hollywood and vista doesnt play 5.1 dvd audion its stereo only it must be bull then. thanks for all your help

I think you may be referring to DRM (Digital Rights Management) where vista will limit the output and quality of illegally copied media, I must admit I know very little of how this works and it's affects. Suffice to say if it's legal you should have no problems.

its all legit pc and dvds so they will be 5.1 , thats all i needed to know thanks for your help

to enable aero(window transparancy)
right click your desktop and select personalize
click colour and apperance and check the transparancy box

in your task bar quick launch is an icon that looks like some windows in a cascade
click it to enable the 3d alt and tab option
if the transparancy and 3d mode are not working i havent a clue why
im guessing but your desktop theme is set to vista ?
